We welcome new members to our classes through out the year, be they complete beginners or experienced dancers. No partners required, just show up!
Our classes consist of 4 levels of varying difficulty. Each lesson is complete, in that you will be able to practice what you've just learned without the help of the teacher to come by at the end of the session. Even after just one lesson, you'll have a good idea of what Salsa is all about. The levels progress in their grades of difficulty and technique and each transition into the next level is attended to in a smooth and effortless manner. Occasionally we do try to throw in a few surprises, just to keep you on your toes.We also have a culture of partner swapping in the Salsa movements as we find that this stimulates the process of learning and make it more interesting, resulting in greater improvement. Our instructors are trained dancers of the Cuban and the LA styles of Salsa that are so popular all around the world. Since Salsa is, in essence, a dance about people, we'd like our lessons to reflect that by encouraging our members to dance with as many people as possible.
Dancing great means looking great. A skilled dancer executing a simple move, looks better, feels better and has more fun then a dancer with bad form attempting something complex. Therefore, in our classes, we put a great deal of emphasis on proper form and execution of each move. Our students learn the techniques of proper hip movement (very important in Merengue and Salsa), use of the knees and proper posture. Men learn how to lead a lady with skill and confidence, ladies how to anticipate their partner's next move to make his job easier. Our students sweat and usually have a few sore muscles during the first few classes. But this hard work really pays off on the dance floor as our students find out at the highly popular Salsa Nation parties. Making the effort to learn proper technique now pays off in the future too as learning other popular Latin dances like the Rumba, the Cha Cha Cha or the Samba, is much easier.
Dancers from elsewhere joining us for the first time are encouraged to start from the lowest level to get used to the way we teach. Check the list of Clubs where we run our classes here.
